Last year, MTV with partners The Kaiser Foundation and Planned Parenthood launched the “GYT” campaign that targeted young people’s awareness for taking responsibility of their own sexual health. GYT was SMS-speak for “Get Yourself Tested” and the visual of the campaign adopted a guerrilla-style stenciled look to pique the curiosity of the viewer. They did a series of talent-driven spots to talk about the concept and we worked with the team on the MTV_GYT.
This year, we worked with the directors of the campaign- Crobin and Howard Grandison- on the on-air component to update the outreach. They wrote and directed great scripts for three different spots. One depicted a meathead from the future who warns his past-self about getting tested, one shows a young man in the doctor’s office who has his hero break into the room to remind him to get checked out, and the third has a young woman sending carrier pigeons to send a message to talk to a doctor and get information. Each one needed a few little visual effects tweaks, and the directors/editor helped make it a smooth process. It is a great campaign and a great cause.
